Ideal Home Show - Parisian Penthouse

I took part in this spring's Ideal Home Show creating a Parisian Penthouse room set.

The concept was formed from a need to create a modern and contemporary living space which also marries extreme comfort and style. Some may have the perception that modernity equals cold, stark and unwelcoming environments with uncomfortable furniture but I wanted to address this issue with the design.

The inspiration for the colour palette I drew from vintage photography featuring fashion shoots in Paris. I was drawn to the geometric 1960s prints and the vibrant use of red set against the backdrop of the Parisian street scene. The space features 2 iconic pieces of french design from Ligne Roset. Firstly the “Toga” designed by Michel Ducaroy for Ligne Roset over 40 years ago which has become one of the most enduring sofa silhouettes of all time, which is upholstered in a houndstooth fabric.

Secondly the Ploum sofa designed Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec for Ligne Roset in 2011 which is made from a special combination of two materials: a stretchable foam-backed fabric covering and ultra-soft foam. This combination, along with the Ploum sofa's truly ample dimensions, provides extreme comfort and accommodates different ways of sitting, stretching out or even lying down. It is described by the brothers as "like a ripe, voluptuous piece of fruit", so it seemed fitting to select a berry red for its fabric.

The concept gives special consideration to those special moments during the day when we each want to relax and catch up with our family and friends. The space reflects that need for a social, comfortable and of course stylish space to unwind, relax and enjoy.

The design also walls in Sleeping Beauty by Colortrend and featured 3 new designs of my current cushion collection available to purchase via my website.
